So I finally broke down and got a Twitter account. I kept telling myself over and over I would never get one, but I thought for educational purposes only I would check it out.
Twitter was really easy to use. Signing up was a breeze. When I first went to Twitter.com there was two areas. A login button and sign up button. Once I hit the sign up button all it asked for was my full name, what I wanted as my username, a password, and my email address. Then, it asked for my email password to get people's emails. I was at first a little concerned about this because I didn't want Twitter emailing all my contacts, but that wasn't the case. It was just to see if any of my friends already had a Twitter account. Twitter did not send out any emails to any of my contacts.
Come to find out 3 of my contacts have Twitter accounts already, so after I completed that step it took me to the home page where I can read my "followers" tweets and also update my tweet, or also known as status. At the moment I'm only following 3 people and those are the 3 that already have Twitter accounts. But there is a search area where I can find other friends and also celebrities.
Also on Twitter you can personalize your page by putting a picture of yourself and by customizing the background. I like that you can customize the background because that's something different to experess you're personality. You can also set up when you get emails from Twitter; for example, if you like Twitter will email you if someone becomes a follower or if someone sends you a personal message. Another thing you can do is update your Twitter staus via mobile phone. I found this quite useful since I'm always on my phone!
This is an interesting site. I still prefer Facebook to this, but it's something new and I needed to explore something for my 3rd emerging technology post so I thought this would be a good one to check out. It's easy to use and easy to navigate. For those of you who like to just update and read status' this is a great site for you!

Great job on your 3rd Emerging Technology! I'm doing twitter also. I've always wanted to explore it so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity. I really like your twitter page and I think you did a great job!

ReplyDeleteYeah, I much prefer Facebook over Twitter. Twitter just seems like Facebook status updates to me, but some people just love their Twitter.
